idiots now sony will think that the idea of delaying distribution here is a good marketing tactic (it is for the majority of consumers as the sales unfortunatly show)

    Agreed.

Im pretty sick of the "omg I must buy it, its a sony" attitude.
There are consoles far superior in quality of both hardware AND games than the Sony consoles.

Ive never been a fan of handheld consoles though, not had one since the sega game gear and dont intend on getting one unless something *really* special comes out

mobile gaming is great I once had a game at a freinds house with 4xnintendo gameboy advance SP's playing that stratagy game with the cute cartoons. Anyway it was one of the most enjoyable gaming sesions I have ever had because of the relaxed enviroment and we could do other stuff while playing our moves. There was no setup... it just worked exactly what you want out of a portable.

Consoles will eventualy die but they wil continue for along time in the protable format... who wants to plug a box into a tv when fast hard disks come out allowing you to install and load pc games in secconds.

I don't want to buy one, but a voice in my head advises me I need one.

From the reviews I've read, it seems that the load time is horrendous. I have a PS2 (that I rarely play) that I can play if I want long load times. It just seems to me to be a shrunk down PS2 with lesser graphics and a few bells and whistles. Does anyone even buy those UMD movies?

Oooh, do they make a white one? I was unaware they came in colors (though they should for the price)....

...but if they don't make it, that must mean they want us to mod it. ;) Someone send one to Zap-wizard, it'll probably come back done in hardwood.

aesthetically pleasing, but what I don't get is why people want to pay ridiculous amounts for a machine that plays games that are, in effect, several years old. I reckon most PSP games will be iterations of PS2 games, which I can quite easily play at home without looking silly, dropping my £180 machine on the street or getting it nicked from some moron who thinks it's an automatic joint roller.
Saying all that, I imported a DS with Mario64 from the states when it came out :p Hypocrisy at its best.

We don't know why we want it. It's been marketed in some black magic way to make us want it. We don't care. We just want it.

I held my manager's PSP at work the other day. No games, no movies, I just held it. It truly is a gorgeous piece of kit. The screen was so shiny, it was perfectly formed... my god, Jesus Wept, honestly.

Sony unfortunately do a good job of marketing their products as cool. The same can be said for apple. Hence a lot of the 'trendy' people want them. Unfortunately the same can be said for both companies that generally their products aren't all that hard wearing.

I know why I DON'T want one: because it's pricey, and I'll never play it enough to justify the investment. It will just sit in a drawer like my GBA. I will confess to being severely tempted by Apple's Black Magic though...
