I really want an X800 in the next few weeks, a VIVO version because they all seem to ship with the 1.6ns RAM and the 16 pipes unlocked...but nobody has any left! Is this because of ATI's horrible yields of the GPU, or because they're looking for better ways to lockdown the Pro cores...either isn't hugely good news for me, I want as much for my £300 as possible ;) So if you know of a place that's stocking VIVO Pros (Sapphire or Club3D have been proven to softmod ridiculously easily, there have been success stories with Powercolor as well, but I suspect all the VIVO ones are good), please post 'em here ;)

I said VIVO, the normal ones don't have the XT cores and faster memory...though they now have the Powercolor VIVO ones as well ;)

The issue was that the Sapphire XT BIOS didn't unlock the pipelines, people have been flashing with a Gigabyte BIOS and everything's been fine :)

There have been very few VIVO cards that don't have 1.6ns RAM and the bridges joined, making them softmoddable. Suck it and see ;)

EDIT - Oh yeah, I ordered a Powercolor VIVO X800 Pro yesterday, but I was about half an hour late, they ran out rather quickly ;) There's been a new batch into OCUK though, I should have it before the weekend

My paycheck this week was £235 after tax, I don't have to pay for food or rent, and I'm crap at saving ;)

    Wait a minute...

If I get a Sapphire X800PRO VIVO, do I only have to flash it with a XT bios and that's it?
    No conductive pens?
No messing around with the core?

    Cheers,
    Mike

Should do, yeah. Not a Sapphire XT BIOS though, what people have been doing is flashing to the Gigabyte XT BIOS, then back to the original (the pipes stay enabled for some reason, giving you amazing scores with the card as a Pro), and then with the proper XT BIOS after if they want. At least I think that's how it works. I'll definitely know more about the procedure by tomorrow, as that's when my card will arrive

Is there a chance that the pipes won't be unlocked?

    Cheers,

Nice one kam, interesting to see how this pans out, strange how the sapphire bioses dont work :D
What results you expecting? Taking the system is gonna bottleneck the gfx or are you going to upgrade that as well? ;)

The system will bottle neck it I would imagine, it certainly did for me at 2600MHz :blah:

i bought one when they came out...it was a failure as most of them

yo need to connect the two bridges..i did...i also scraped them to see if everything was fine...

the vivo ones yeah nearly all of them have the 16 pipes unlocked...
