How dows DSR work on a 1440p? I meen, its not an even upscale from 1080 so wonder how crisp that would be?

I found a thread over at reddit, is this what you do:

Correct way to reach 3840x2160 is indeed using 2.25 DSR factor with 50% smoothness (because 50% of 2560 is 1280, and 2560+1280 is 3840, also 50% of 1440 is 720, and 1440+720 is 2160).

I just check all aspects (so every factor) and IIRC 40% smoothness and it's much better than 1440p, especially in FO4 which looks so much better. Titan XP runs it lovely too :)

AMD have VSR which is much of the same and allows me to run Far Cry 5 at 2560x1600 on a 1680x1050 Apple Cinema monitor and it makes a massive difference as you can imagine.

    6880x2880 DSR Masterrace forever:grin:

Jokes aside, while DSR is nice, in many modern games the performance impact is unfortunately just too big, so you'll end up using it mostly in old games.

Aye well that is a pretty insane res lol. I bet it does look good though :)

4k seems to be just about perfect to get the best out of my XP, whilst 1600p seems good for the Fury X (when it's not running out of VRAM). The option to drop is nice though. I have quite a few choices when it comes to that, so I aim to get the most out of these two GPUs. I can't see me replacing either for the foreseeable. Nvidia seem perfectly happy to stick on Pascal for a bit, and tbh? no games need more performance than a XP even at 4k because if the GPU runs out of grunt I would simply drop back top 1440p where it pretty much pwnz any game currently out there. And with DX12 being a bit of a non starter, coupled with the fact that the DX11 dev cycle doesn't seem to be over yet? yeah, I am not bothering. This will be the first summer in years I have not upgraded GPU. Simply as there's no point. As soon as you reach 1080ti you reach total pwnage.

Couldn't agree more VT, that's why I intend on watercooling mine when I upgrade to Zen+ in the not so distant future :D

My 1080Ti is like an errant child that laughs in my face at everything I throw at it

How are you getting on with the monitor? Having just bought 1080ti coming from a 980ti and a 16:10 https://www.dell.com/ed/business/p/dell-u2413/pd I now find my self lusting after a 1440p screen at either 27 or 32. Having come to similar conclusions as you in am torn between the Asus IPS PG279Q and the LG 850g

I absolute love the size of the monitor and have started watching way more movies and stuff since I got it. Also, its pretty amazing for work, due the extra realestate, or for multitasking because I can have multiple things open at once without overlapping.

For gaming I love the upgraded colors, compared to my old monitor, it just looks fantastic.
I actually usually end up limiting it to show 1080p in a black square on screen when I game, because I can duplicate it and stream it through my HD60Pro card in my editing machine.

Because I do that, I can run most AAA games on my overclocked 1070 with ultra details in 100fps or more, its butter smooth.

Only thing I actually dont like is if I have to move it around the stand is pretty bad, there is not really anything to hold onto.
But as soon its placed it look really good and you easily forget how annoying it was to move.

    I can higly recommend it

I also looked at that one, but the curve I would not need, the resolution incline would be too much for my 1070, a great VA panel can in most cases in my experience compete with a IPS panel and the price was much higher if I had gone with that.
Buy what you think feels right for you, they are all epic monitors

Looks like I might (98%) be going for the AW3418DW. 5 year awesome Dell warranty (upgraded from 3 year) and newer gen native 100hz screen. I can pick one of these up with a discount via a supplier at work as they are a Dell box shifter.

I kept my previous Dell U2413 (AH IPS) for 5 years and will do the same with the new one. So less than £190 a year over 5 years isnt a bad investment as I see it. (at least that is what I am telling myself...... yes yes it all makes sense.... sssssh dont tell the other half....)

So the beast arrived today. Rev A04 & manufactured in August 2018. No regrets at all. Seems to be a bit of bleed in the bottom right corner which isnt present in any other corner so will see how that goes. I've got the 5 year advanced warranty to back me up so no worries there.

Dell are running a price match & beat on the box.co.uk offer so you can pick it up with 5 year warranty from dell for GBP £1,018.80 inc VAT and delivery.
