How do I uninstall Vista 64-bit Beta 2? I have XP on C and Vista on F. The bootexec program won't work in XP, because it's 64-bit, presumably. Am I stuck with having a redundant bootloader where I have to remember to select 'Earlier version of Windows'? When I load up the recovery console after booting off the XP cd, it detects two Windows partitions, one on F and one on D (!? XP is on C drive!) I've tried fixboot and fixmbr. fixmbr said it was writing to C drive. No change, still had new bootmenu. Would I need to run 'fixmbr D:' ? I don't want to balls-up my XP partition, but the only other thing I can think of is a repair install off the xp cd. Thanks for any help.
fixboot and fixmbr worked fine for me on this system. What partition configuration were you using with Vista at the time? In any case, it might be worth giving this program a shot; it claims to be able to reinstall XP's NTLDR with more ease than playing with a CLI. I'll give it a go on another machine now, 2 mins... Edit: Worked a charm... it's worth using. Do back up anything important, though - when you are playing with important sections of a hard drive, it pays to be careful...
Nope, there's other stuff on the partition and I'm not sure if any files are needed by XP on that partition before I backup and wipe it. I'll give that program a try hitman012, many thanks edit: I've had a look on the forums and I just want to make sure (sounds daft, but meh). To take it back to how it was before installing Vista, using VBP2.1, I go to Bootloader and choose Uninstall, right?
