is there a simple way with pics? as i have no idea about how to do it, i tried to veiw a vid in another thread but no go. im looking at buying a 1900 or 2k. either that or does anyone in uk unlock them?
Unlocking an XP is a complicated business, and if you're not sure what you're doing, then it's best not to really. Basically soon AMD will do as intel, setting the multiplier on fuses within the chip, which are blown up to set the multiplier in such a way as to make it impossible to change. FSB is the overclocking method now, and I suspect soon limitations will be imposed on that. If you still want to try, look on tom's hardware guide for a detailed explanation of the method.
theres a thread floating around here somewhere on an alternative way on how to unlock your athlon xp... i might try and find it later on when i got more time....
i did find it.. but this technical jargon is above me.. something in lamens english would be nice id pay someone who knows what their doing.. but dont know of any companies in kent
over-clock.co.uk will do it, but their cpu's are soo expensive :/ i have found some guy who will do it, but it means traveling quite a distance. obviously its too hard to do myself.. just wondered of anyone who done them privatly
the problem with changing the FSB, is that it effects alot of other components in the system, so the FSB can only be overclocked to a certain extent, so be careful. Your processor might run on a high FSB but your GFX card might not, so beware :dude: .icecube
i have a leadtek 4600ti, abit kx7 and samsung ddr2700, what sort of fsb's for a 2000 should i not go above?
ok....fsb will start at 133mhz....start at that and go up slowly watching your system temps... if it gets unstable try upping the vcore...but watch out as the fsb will increase the frequency on the pci bus aswell and you could damage your other cards, such as sound and nic.... always watch temps, rather be safe then sorry... i take no responsibilities for your actions either....
lol.. im not gonna blame anyone for blowing it up hehe, thx though.. hopefully ill find someone to do it for me
i'd say that you don't gain all that much from oc:ing an XP, except risk... perhaps it's too risky... it's really up to you... it won't overclock very well no mater what you do, and even if it does, the price of the vapochill required to achieve such a clock will greatly reduce the thickness of your wallet... i don't know if yer wallet will ever forgive you...
my wallets alreayd moaning at me for the gf4 ;-) but i have found a quick guide on how to unlock them, at mad onion.. it doesnt sound hard at all.. due to the fact i thought the l1 bridges were in the pin set lol <newb
