Unlocking an XP is a complicated business, and if you're not sure what you're doing, then it's best not to really.

Basically soon AMD will do as intel, setting the multiplier on fuses within the chip, which are blown up to set the multiplier in such a way as to make it impossible to change. FSB is the overclocking method now, and I suspect soon limitations will be imposed on that.

If you still want to try, look on tom's hardware guide for a detailed explanation of the method.

the problem with changing the FSB, is that it effects alot of other components in the system, so the FSB can only be overclocked to a certain extent, so be careful.

Your processor might run on a high FSB but your GFX card might not, so beware :dude:

ok....fsb will start at 133mhz....start at that and go up slowly watching your system temps...

if it gets unstable try upping the vcore...but watch out as the fsb will increase the frequency on the pci bus aswell and you could damage your other cards, such as sound and nic....

always watch temps, rather be safe then sorry...

i take no responsibilities for your actions either....:worried:

i'd say that you don't gain all that much from oc:ing an XP, except risk... perhaps it's too risky... it's really up to you... it won't overclock very well no mater what you do, and even if it does, the price of the vapochill required to achieve such a clock will greatly reduce the thickness of your wallet... i don't know if yer wallet will ever forgive you...
