Has the whole exterior been polished? I remember you using chrome stickers, are they still there? :blah:

Yeah it was March last year when i first polished the front and no discolouring so i think it should be fine apart from everyday greasy finger prints lol

No Cyber.............never used any Chrome stickers.

This was a total strip down of the case and sanded off all the anodising followed by polishing the hole lot and finally putting it all back together again.........many many hours!

What do you think :p :D

It's already in the Extreme Cooling Case Gallery so it's not allowed in there but i thought a few better pictures in here wouldn't harm...

    That is bloody sexy.

Anything shiny grabs my attention, and i know from polishing bits on my bike its a very long and boring process, not to mention a real PITA. But its well worth it in this case. (Literally)

    Very nice work.

    hi dude,

great job - was wondering about your 9800xt clock; whats the secret of getting such a high clock? I have a Sapphire 9800xt watercooled and mine manages to only go at about 440 (yours is 499). Did it manage this without the RAMsinks? Please pass on the knowledge lol.

    cheers

In all honesty malccy that was quite a while ago and i've long since blown that card up so i can't offer much info other than according to this benchmark thread it was running at 500/446

I've still got the card with Tweakmonster sinks still stuck on but like i say its borked.

Its got a Gainward FX5900 flashed to 5950 in it at present on a DFI Lan Party RevB with 2500 Barton cooled with a silver Cascade and temps are...

    CPU - 36
    GPU - 37

Sorry to hear about your 9800xt mate. Great overclock all the same. If you would consider selling the Ramsinks from the board please get in contact. Since removing the original air cooler on mine and placing it with a waterblock I feel the memory could do with better cooling solution. Thanks again for getting back.

First of all i got me hands on one of these Hitachi 6" sander/polisher and a tin of Peek polishing compound.

Sanded off all the anodised flat bits (sides and top) with the machine and on the curved bits by hand starting with coarse grit wet'n'dry and followed up with very fine grit to get out all the major scratches then it was on with the velcro lambs wool polishing mop and lots of hours of very dirty laborious polishing.

For the curved front bits i used a bench polisher.

Everybody who sees it in real life says it looks like its been chromed but its definitely the result of many hours of sanding and polishing!

The mirror window is that one way silver car window film you can get from Halfords.

It's all coming to bits this weekend and getting turned into my main gaming rig as appose to it being my work PC that's stuck under a bench lol
