If you bought the original U2 game and were a bit dissapointed (I know I was) I really recommend giving the new Multiplayer a go...its a bit Tribes-esque, but promotes co-operation like nothing else. It has classes, vehicles, some of the nastiest turret guns you've ever seen, some unique map designs, and (needless to say) looks really pretty. I got it tonight, and have played a full map cycle on a UK server...spent half an hour running round with another player (never met before) causing havoc to the enemy (you can revive down players, so players working together are incredibly strong), nicked a tank, grabbed an artifact (game goal) and pretty much won the game... Its a 270Meg download from Fileplanet (yeah, it sux), but its well worth it. One note, really sit through the tutorial...the game isn't complex, but it you don't know what you are doing you'll look very daft when you go into your first server. BC
haven't heard much of this - is it an update/add-on to Unreal 2, or is it completely separate? (i.e. do i already have to have unreal 2 to play it, etc...) sounds like my kind of game though
You *cough* need a copy of the original Unreal 2 discs *cough* to install the game, but all the actual information is in the download. Unreal 2 was entirely single-player...this is a completely new gametype for multiplayer online only. As I said, similar to Tribes, only much easier to play, and encourages more teamwork... BC
I have Unreal2 (although uninstalled) and I heard about this. I downloaded the demo and it was pretty fun. It is Tribes-esque and looks to be a way of testing the UT2k4 features. You need Unreal2 in order to play this, or you can buy Unreal 2 - Special Edition if memory serves me. It is fairly fun though, it won't top the bloodlust of UT2k3 nor will it ever be as fun as Tribes, but I like it.
I beta tested this game, all I can say is it is a cross between a capture the flag game and tribes 2. Was quite fun to play for a while but all the beta servers were american so lag was bag.
i downloaded the demo of it last night and played for about 30 minutes or so... i like it so far, but i have to keep playing ( ) to say for sure. i'll probably get it since Unreal II is only $20 at best buy and i can then just download the MP update for free... not bad for a good mp game imo
I probably won't play it, but I will buy UT2k4 for sure. That will be very much like this (from what I've seen and read).
i went to my friend's house (who owns Unreal II) and we installed it. it looks good, but nearly every server has at least a 200 ping. anyone know why this would be? anyone else seeing better pings?
What sort of connection does he have? I'm on an ½Mb ADSL line in the UK, and get pings of 20-80, normally on UK servers. Haven't seen any american players on these servers, but Europeans (Germans, Swedes mainly) have a ping of 50-100, all of which are reasonable. I'd really like a 1Mb connection, and its only a tenner more BC
just to let people know u can currently buy Unreal II for £9.99 at Play.com Ive jus ordered myself a copy
