At least the gameplay is better then 2k4.

I thought the original videos they had were awesome and looked spectacular, any chance of getting a video to illustrate your comments?

 UT2004's gameplay was supurb. I know it didn't please many of the original UT players, but gameplay in things like the UT series is only going to go further away from the original UT model and onward from where they went with UT2004.

This does concern me a little. All I want is a deathmatch game that has new graphics, this sounds like it's trying to be BF2 or something with intelligence, which has me worried.

The thing with UT2k4 is that the vehicles where underused, even in the node one.

Yeah, the vehicles could be mostly ignored though, thankfully. Onslaught was just...an initial attraction to the majority of folk. The real play is DM in my opinion, or CTF. It's in the old, tried and tested play models, because UT manages them in a fast and furious way that no other game thats being played lots today manages as well.

hmmm, I hope they manage to sort the engine problems quick enough to stay on target for the xmas launch window, and I'm all for companies like epic trying to inovate there games. If you want to play UT then play UT, this is UT2007.

Well yes, but surely you can understand that a fanbase can feel somewhat cheated when the sequal to a game they love and have poured thousands of hours of their lives into is created with people other then them in mind?

It'd be kinda like the godfather 2 being made into an emotional romance because violent gangster movies don't make as much money. Yes, you could say "well if they like violent gangster movies they should go watch the godfater part 1", and yes you'd be right, but they'd still have a right to feel cheated, and they'd still be the more deserving target audience.

I figured that about the graphics....I mean just look at the sheer detail then think about Tomb Raider :Legend (next gen on) and G.R.A.W. for PC...these games are trully next gen but it makes the almightly 1900xtx crossfire sweat.

Then add the massive chaos of all that is Unreal, tons of players, weapon physics, enviorments and now destructable elements.....its gonna take a miracle of programing to get that to run smooth....but its doubtful....

Its really gonna rely on next gen cards...R600 / G80 kind of stuff....the things we have now are honestly just the best "last gen" cards can get...they are topped out.

But you know well be there with our current cards destined for ebay and our wallets open buffer the rest!

This is how games should be, quite honestly. Programmers shouldn't be spending every bit of time on the graphics, then throwing some gameplay in. Starting and perfecting the gameplay first, then moving along to better performance and graphics is how game program teams should be working, IMO.

It looks like current gen PC GPU's are at the very end of its stick. Good luck trying to get any of the next gen games running well on the hardware we have now.
It's like trying to beat the last mile out of an old dying mule.
It's MS's fault, if they had rolled out Vista sooner, then ATI and Nvid would have already released there new line of cards, as appose to trying to slap 20 outdated DX9 GPU's together to push these new games.

Oblivion was the first game that should have been run on next gen GPU, each day MS holds back Vista is day you'll be stuck with poor frame rates.

Oblivion runs poorly because it's not coded very well. Compare Oblivion to games that look nearly as good, many run very well. Oblivion may be one of the best lookers out there, but it uses much more power then it should be doing. Thats due to the relatively poor engine optimizations and stuff like that though, not the lack of power in the current graphics market.

Yah, Fear looks so much better than oblivion, fear runs better.

Make sure you guys have AMD's cool n' quiet off, for osme reason, that gave me a huge performance boost.

Agreed the folks at Beth can't code worth beans, but still I can't help but imagine how great Oblivion could run off an DX10 card on Vista.

Unfortunately true, but then, they craft games. If a team like bethesda(great at gameplay, suck at engine work) got toegether with a team like ID(of late sucking at gameplay, owning at engine work) then there'd be a perfect dev house. But I guess stuff like that won't happen.

I'm still not sure DX10 is instantly going to bring many benefits though. I mean, from what Bit have said about Crysis, DX10 cards aren't going to bring much of a benefit. While I fully expect DX10 orientated games to require DX10 cards or have big troubles, I'm not so sure DX9 games are going to benefit all that much beyond just the normal extra power that each new generation of graphics cards brings.

The spec for 2k7 won't be out yet AJB, partly because the hardware that'll be reccomended for it probably isn't out yet, and partly because from the sounds of things the game has some seriously heavy optimisation to look forward too, so they just won't know themselves yet.
