Modding UPDATED PICS!!!Got a bunch of 2.5 lcds from friend any ideas?

i just got a bunch of these 2.5 lcd screens from my friends dad, he's riding it off as a business loss. so my question is how can i make these work with my computer and or car? i have over 200 of them, they are brand new any ideas here's a pic:

You're going to have to give us a little more to go on...

Have they got controllers, any sort of serial number or datasheets? Can you even make out the display, I.E. is it dot matrix or line based?

I cant imagine what you could do with 200 LCD displays though.... build a case out of them?

 

They looks like driver less displays from the pic, if so, youll need a driver board for them.

 

they are "supposed" to be used as replacement lcd's for philips brand camcorders and cell phones and whatnot. I'm going to pick them all up from friend this coming friday and was thinking about selling some for like 5 bux shipped for 1 maybe?? i got no clue but they're all mine for free, he wrote it off as a business loss

Did you ask for them? Writing 200 LCD's off as a business loss doesn't seem to be the sort of thing that people do for no reason. To be honest I'd give them back if you don't know what to do with them.

 

By drivers he means driver boards, basicly it looks like you just have a load of LCD screen with a cable attached and nothing else.

The driver boards connect to that cable and are PCBs with many components on them which control the display, do you have any other pictures?
Or at least models for the screen?s

 

nope i'm going to find out when i pick them up friday., i just asked if he still wanted them because i kept seeing them in his shop a lot. so i was like hey can i have some of these you could probably write them off as a charitable donation or loss or something. he said he'd think about it. called me a week later said sure take them all, i'll have 3 full boxes of them friday for you to pick up.

 

To be honest, it sounds like the guy is doing you a favour. Selling off his stock for a few bucks or taking it and not doing anything with it isn't going to impress the guy much. I'd call him and explain to him you wouldn't really know what to do with them, and wouldn't take 'em.

 

ya but he doesn't want them, and i posted this question on a couple of diff forums, plus he knows i'll probably sell them on ebay for replacement parts or something and he doesn't really care, i'm friends with his son and go to school with his son and hang out with them. I help him tint cars at his shop and he taught me how to setup speakers and tint, it's freaking cool.

 

hmm... i might be interested, as it seems very similar to my old nomad jukebox 2 lcd screen that has cracked? could you check if those are dot matrix, 132x64 pixel?

or are those color lcd's? if yes, you could make a diy projector out of them

 

they are color lcd's what do you mean diy projector?

 

a projector your make yourself...you need an lcd, a light source, and enclosure and a screen and you basically shine the light through the lcd to project onto the screen

theres a guide somewhere but i dont remember where

 

actually if you just search for diy projector there are a ton of guides on google

edit: you need something to focus the image too

cool, but i don't think 2.5" lcd's would work for that??
