    Hi All,

Battlefield 3 has made me realise my nearly 4 year old system is going to struggle (especially with games like Planetside 2 on the horizon.
    So I'm planning an upgrade:

    Budget:
    As cheap as possible (~£700?)

    Main uses of intended build:
    Gaming

    Parts required:
Scan are looking cheaper than OCUK atm (my usual shopping place) so:

    LN38188 1280MB Asus GTX 570 DirectCU II, 40nm, 3800MHz GDDR5, GPU 742MHz, 480 Cores
    LN36726 Intel Core i5 2500K Unlocked,
LN37609 Be Quiet! Dark Rock Advanced BK014 CPU Cooler
    LN40235 8GB (2x4GB) Corsair DDR3 Vengeance LP Cerulean Blue, PC3-12800 (1600), CAS 9-9-9-24, XMP, 1.5V
    LN39102 64GB Crucial RealSSD M4, 2.5" SSD,
    LN38032 Asus P8P67 Rev.3.0, Intel P67, S 1155, DDR3,

Previous build information (list details of parts):
BFG GeForce 8800 GTS OC 512MB x2 (SLI)
Coolermaster CM-690 Dominator Case - Black
MSI P7N Diamond nForce 780i SLi
    Intel Core 2 Duo E8400 LGA775 'Wolfdale' 3.00GHz
    OCZ Reaper HPC 4GB (2x2GB) PC2-6400C4 800MHz
Coolermaster Real Power 700w Modular Power Supply
    Seagate Barracuda 7200.11 500GB
    Samsung SM-2232BW Pebble 22"
    Windows 7 x64

    Monitor resolution:
    1680*1050 x 2

    Storage requirements:
    I've got 2 x 500 and a 250 GB SATA 2 atm so I'm just going for an SATA.

    Will you be overclocking:
    yes

Any motherboard requirements (no. of USB, Xfire/SLI, fan headers):
    -
    Extra information about desired system:
    -

I've been looking about the past few months so I think that should give me a fairly happy setup, but extra input would be greatly appreciated for peace of mind :)

    Hello Mate

Drop that spec over to OcUK via the webnote system along with a link to this thread.

Im sure I could potentially get someone to help you out a little on it ;)

Just out of interest how has your customer experience been at OCUK?
We hear a lot of horror stories here on the forums, Like last set of U2711 refurbishes they sold where actually just really broken.

I think you'll get a mixed view tbh. I've used them a half a dozen times over the years, only really had one issue where I needed to return something - a quick mention of DSR rights sorted it quickly. None of the other items bought from them gave me any issues. On the one time I drove down to collect something I wanted quickly staff in the store front seem nice enough.

andrew8200m might be a little bias toward OCUK :p

I think every store has a bunch of horror stories to be told by niffed off customers. I've never had an issue with scan but a quick look over the forum shows a bunch of tales of issues etc.

Everyone has poor customer service from time to time as its down to the attitue of the representative on the end of the phone at the end of the day which shouldnt happen but unfortunately sometimes does.

When I say send a webnote, its so we can sort your pricing a little so that you dont have to shop elsewhere :)

The only thing I've ever had was ordering just as Wolfdale came out, then finding it delayed.
I then spent a few weeks refining my order in which I found the support incredibly helpful.

I've not had to send anything back but heard both good and bad things.
Personally I've always enjoyed the shopping experience I've had :)

slight change I'm now looking at:

the EVGA GTX 570 HD Superclocked (LN38197) - Overclocked for £20 seems pretty reasonable
the z68-v otherbaord (LN39507) - it supports sli for later for a small amount more
and the slimline version of SSD (LN42641) - as the original doesnt exist anymore.

The response from the OCUK webnote is 'those are all great parts you've picked' so as scan is the better part of £30 cheaper I think they'll be the way forward.

    Thanks for the help :)
