I currently have a 9500np that is ok for my needs at the moment, but I would like to upgrade fairly soon (Will get HL2 and been playing the doom3 demo too much :D ).

My question: what sort of performance increase would I get from a 9800pro/xt over my 9500?

Or, should I wait until 6800gt's get cheaper?

    Thoughts and suggestions greatly appreciated.

    The way I see it:

Doom3 and Half Life 2 are going to be the standard for the next year or so. They've been the most anticipated titles ever, and most games from the next year are probably going to be using the same engine as either HL2 or D3 (I think :worried: ). So any GFX card that runs D3 and HL2 will be great for the next year at least. After that, I expect even a 6800GT will be a bit outdated, and you should start saving again :p

So I say get the 9800Pro, which will run D3 and HL2 just nicely :)

next year's releases won't have quite the same performance increases as this time around, imho. :)

Anyone know how a 9800pro runs the source engine?

Oh and how does a 6600gt compare to a 9800pro in just about anything?

(bigz im lookin at you for this)
