Hello Guys, Hope everything is good with all of you...

I was looking forward to upgrade my system to something newer but I would ask you guys if it worth it or not... I'm not gaming anymore on the system, Mostly Internet And Media stuff ( Playback, And some Light PS )

    So Current is :

    GigaByte Triton 180
    GigaByte EP45-UD3R
    Intel Q9450
    8GB 1066Mhz
    Sapphire 3870X2
    Creative X-FI ExtremeGamer
    Enermax Galaxy DXX 1KW
    Samsung 2220WM
    Thermalright Ultra-120 eXtreme
    7TB Space
    Enermax Clusters 120mm Fans

    I'm Looking for 2 things:

First, Is To Get a SSD Drive for Windows and programs VS the 1TB Green I have for the system... I think I don't need more than the 120 SSD, But There is a 128GB and a 100GB! Whats the different and which ones is the best for the value and performance on that range...

Second, Is To change the eXtreme to a Compact Water Cooling system with one 120mm rad, Something like the Kuhler H2O 920... What do you think? is it worth it?

I don't face any problems with my current but is the efficiency of those old hardware is same as the new hardware now days ? It's like an 2000 7 Series BMW and compared to the new KIA models :)

Also Will Channing the Sound Card to the ASUS Xonar DX will make a difference ? No Problems with my current

I'm looking for your advice guys :)

I moved from a rig very similar to that to my current one and its so much better. I'd go for a 128GB M4, as in the uk they're £89 which is a real bargain. Apart from that, seeing as you're not gaming, I don't really think anything else is worth while, you may save some power by moving to Ivy Bridge but it would take a long time for the saving to offset the outlay.

I used to run a TRUE 120 and its my favorite tower cooler to this day. I'd personally keep it, as a all in one watercooler wont change much.

To be honest, I'd also change out the 3870X2 if you want to save some energy, that thing probably sucks up quite a bit of juice. Other than that, just sit back and relax, the proposed upgrades are perfect.

Do you have issues with overheating ? A Corsair H100 might help if you do...
I agree that your 3870 is an old greedy item, a newer model will be massively less power hungry.
And a 120/128 GB SSD will be fine, I have an 80 GB item I bought years ago, and I have my i-tunes collection on it as well as W7.

I'm in a similar boat - I'd like an Ivy Bridge i7, but I can't really justify it seeing as my current rig performs so well. Similarly to you, I've got a Q6600 and an HD5670, because I don't do much gaming. I recently upgraded to a Crucial M4 64GB and it's fantastic - it's really boosted the machine and definitely a must-have purchase.

    I'd recommend:
-A 128GB M4. These are just £86 from Scan at the moment and will be a huge boost, especially since you say your system is currently on a WD Green drive - not the best performance for hard drives.
-A HD6000 series card like a HD6850 or even a 6870 - these are so cheap now (around £100 from Amazon) that it'd be silly to spend more if you're not gaming on a slower 7000 series card (assuming you're sticking with ATI). Perhaps even less. I find my 5670 provides enough power for Eyefinity 3 and some light gaming at 1080p

    Hope this helps!

Yeah An SSD Drive is a must have upgrade for the system i think... the thing about saving power willl not make that much diffrent i think...

The current system generate alot of HEAT and use alot of power... So that's why I wanted to see what the best i can do...

The True is the best... But the compact water cooling might be more quiet and don't disturb that much heat as the true !

    thanks alot :)

I agree About the 3870X2! It's Two 3870 Cards Running at 60C inside the case! And I don't game so it's not that much different, is the 6850 or 6870 is a better option ? i will get more boost and save some noise, heat and power ?

I think the H100 Will be a killer cooler ?

Thanks for the replays you guys being very helpful :)

The 6870 is better than the 6850, and about £20 more. The H100 is a great cooler, but a bit overkill and with the stock fans can be very noisy. The Gelid Tranquillo would be a better option, and a hell of a lot cheaper :thumb:

after research... What do you think of...

    1) ANTEC KÜHLER H2O 620 for 85$ Upgrade over my True With Enermax Cluster Fan ? because my cpu idl at ( 2 first cores = 51 , 2 last cores = 41 , AVG for all ) And While Gaming or Encoding IT hit 60+ ( Fans running at 1300RPM )

    2) An 120GB SSD Card But Which ? some options i found in the local market !

    1- Kingston HyperX 120GB (SH100S3/120G) For 200$
    2- Corsair Force Series 3 GT 120GB For 200$
    3- Adata XPG SX900 128GB For 190$
    4- Intel 330 Series Maple Crest 120GB For 175$

Any Good ? Should I look To something better ?

    3) The Graphic Card I don't know... Lately I played Max Payne 3 with auto settings was taking around 750MB of the memory i think and was no lagging and not that bad effects ! the problem It was too HOT! reached 90s with fan on 40... I had to speed fan to 85 - 95 and Turn the game volume too high to be able to game :( I dunno what would be a worth replace to this card :( or should I spend more on cooling or the new direct x and shader thingy and win 8 will not support this card :(

    4) THE PSU is over kill and perfect but lately I noticed that fan is running fast and make noise :D any fix to that ? other than cleaning ?

    Last Thing...

Here a snap of my idle temps :( the room temp is around 24-25 .... the noise i think is 45 - 55 decibel and that is not comfortable while sleeping :( any solution to that ? because i leave the system running all the time :( while in load those temps hit high levels as i said before :(

I'd say the kingston or a Crucial M4 personally.

I'd suggest you get some more powerful fans for your TRUE, if they don't help them you can use them on your Kuhler for increased performance. I personally used a pair of 1850 rpm Gentle Typhoons on my TRUE and it was perfect.

Maybe a 560Ti, as they're fairly cheap now, or wait and see what the 660 is like, as rumors suggest it'll be launched over the next month or so...

Give the PSU a clean, it should still be perfectly good. You could replace the fan, but in a 1KW PSU it'd be a risk to your health...

Thanks for your replay sir

I will look for a Crucial M4 If I'm not lucky then I think I will go for the Kingston as you recommended

The problem those Enermax Cluster 120mm Fans Running on 1350RPM And They Are Silent... I got one on the True Then Another On the back of the case And another 2 on the front as intake :( and i still get this temps :(

I will wait on the GPU or look for a used card deal :)

the PSU is perfectly good after running 24/7 those years :) but the fan speed rise on the load :( duuno if because it gets hot air from inside the case or what :(

This is a pic to understand what i'm talking about :(

    OH DEAR LORD, THE WIRES!

    I'd suggest upgrading your case...

Agree with this very much. The Enermax DXX's weren't known for being the quietest out there and you can get semi-passive PSUs that kill all noise now. Might be worth an upgrade, if you care. Modular would benefit you too! Power-quality-wise though the Enermax is fine. I would NOT change the fan.

Agree the TRUE is a great cooler. No need to upgrade, unless it's not got LGA1155/6 compatibility.

560 Tis are cheap, but maybe wait for 660 ;) Shouldn't be long. Depends how urgently you need to update.

The rest have been covered: SSD and case change is your main focus imo.

Great case! What site are you buying from?

I would go with 560 ti. Maybe a giagabyte or Asus one with the larger heatsinks.

CPU depends on how much cash you want to spend.

The m4 would be my pick from SSD's but only because I own one and i have never had a problem with it.

From A Local Shop in my city :) That's why I said that case they have it for arround 110 $ I think !

yeah about graphics i will look again but i think the 560 ti as you said is the best deal now...

cpu it's not how much cash :) it's like i think my quad do whatever i want it to do.. but that i5 is way faster ( scores ) and less heat, power... I will look up again because this means i have to change everything :)

then I'm going for the M4  and i will pick up that case in the next days and post the updates and tell you guys what is going on ;)

thanks all for the help

For a cheaper option go with a 7770. If you're not doing much gaming. Why not?
