TBH most 240mm AIOs are all the same. There's like 2c difference between them. Just get one that is the right price and won't leak (google first). If you really fancy pushing the boat out and have the room the triple BeQuiets are amazing.
personally recommend any dual fan AIO from Corsair. That's what we use in the office and out of the 6 or so PC's I've built the corsair AIOs are a doddle to install.
Plenty of good air coolers if you want to go that route, Noctua do some decent ones, just check clearance and of course for any cooler make sure they are AM4 compatible as whilst many say they will work with all Intel or AMD there are some old coolers out there without the appropriate bracket for AM4.
I would avoid the Corsair coolers with the braided hose. It doesn't wear very well and can fray, making it look awful.
Really not sure which one to get. So many !!! The noctura dh15 or whatever seems the best air cooler buts it's around £80! I like the look of the kraken 42 52 and 62 but again these are all well above 100 Sorry vault I'm not a flashy led guy so that amtec looked awful to me
i took a look at the coolermaster 240 pro and that seems like a good choice. However i have a fractal R3 and im not sure it will fit ! anyone tried to put a 280 rad in one ? EDIT - crap after looking around the only thing i can fit maybe is 120mm rad, would that be enough to cool my toasty 1800x ? Im thinking air cooling or single 120mm rad is my only option wihtout considerable expense. tohughts on the below ? Artic liquid freezer 120 (£50-60) Noctura NH-15 (£80) Le Grand Macho RT (is this really old as i cant really find it)
looking around the interwebs no there just isnt the clearance and also none of the 120mm holes line up for a 240 rad so requires modding
A 120 will work, but you want to find one with some girth https://www.amazon.co.uk/Liquid-Fre...pID=41RA8NkEDaL&preST=_SY300_QL70_&dpSrc=srch is nice and thick and got great reviews in CPC.
Or a single 140 perhaps? https://www.amazon.co.uk/Cooler-Master-MasterLiquid-MasterFan-MLY-D12X-A20MB-R1/dp/B01LZCSMPS/ref=sr_1_fkmr0_3?ie=UTF8&qid=1511263048&sr=8-3-fkmr0&keywords=arctic+120+aio&th=1 Half price ATM. Edit. You can fit a 140 in the top. Both mounts are 120/140. Edit again, all LEDs should be controllable and be able to be switched off.
looking at my R3 i dont think i could fit a 140mm on top the clearance between the fan and motherboard is less than 10mm so i think it would be in the way the arctic 120 seems to be the best bet and its well priced. I know you can get better coolers but we are only talking less than a 5C improvement for double the cost ordered the arctic 120 liquid. there just wasnt anything else i could order that could cool as well in the space i have. will need to order the AM4 bracket from arctic though which is a little annoying as that will delay my build
I don't. The mounting is Asetek. When Ryzen came out I bought an adapter (well it was free but I had to spend £3 to get it free on crap I threw away) and I have had it since. Corsair were doing it at launch, so I figured I would get one for Justin lol. (Justin case). Here you go. I will have a Gary 50p this is what you need.
Even if the bolts were different you wouldn't need them. Basically what you do is take the two plastic bits off of the board (leaving the back plate intact) and then the mounts screw into the board. What I mean is if you are using this mount you use the fittings it comes with I would hazard a guess and say that around 60% of AIO all use the Asetek mounts tbh. I have an OEM Alienware cooler I was going to use it on (same fittings) but I ended up going 14 core Broadwell E because it was cheaper and much faster than a 1800x. Plus I didn't need faster RAM etc.
ill see if the cooler comes with a bracket tomorrow, Its been long enough now since launch that stock refresh should include a bracket but you never know. If it doesnt ill drop you msg for it.
