Hi so my mobos max ram right now is 2 gigs, i have a beast video card but i still get low frames in old games like combat arms. I figure the ram is the bottleneck, and to a lesser extent maybe the cpu, which I can upgrade with the mobo that I buy.

I would prefer a micro-axt form. This is what I'm looking at:

    Mobo: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813138314

    Ram: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820231311

    My rig:

    Intel Pentium 4 3.06GHz socket LGA 775
ATI Radeon HD 4600 Series - Video Memory 1.00 GB
    1.5 gigs PC3200 ram
    XP Professional
    crap emachines mobo
    a good 600w PSU

    1. So what hardware do you guys think I should get? I'm on a budget.

    2. Will my P4 single core work with this mobo? it says "CPU Type:
    Core 2 Quad/Duo / Pentium Dual-Core / Celeron" in the newegg specs.

It's not worth upgrading that machine.

It would be far better to source quality second hand components and construct a dual or quad core system. A single core CPU is a real relic and it's simply not worth spending any money on such a system. Here's a thread to inspire you in the right direction!
