I plan on upgrading my very outdated ATI Radeon 9600XT 128MB to an ATI Radeon X800GTO 256MB.

    My current specs are:

    P4 2.6 with ht tech.
    1 GB DDR ram
    ATI Radeon 9600XT 128 MB

What do you guys think? Keep in mind that my PC only accepts AGP 4x/8x, no PCI-E for me :(

    Welcome to the forums ;)

The X800 GTO's are good cards :hip: I have a Sapphire GTO² in an older rig meself (modded to X850 XT speeds, using this guide)... but GTO²'s aren't available in AGP unfortunately!

You'll be happy enough with that one though, I'm sure :thumb:

gotta be a 6800 or 7600 series for me. the 7600s are great, and clock like hell. should cope reasonably well with most new games too. if thats above your budget, try look for a 6800 of some sort. the agp 6800s were generally pretty good, with the possibility of unlocking pipes and overclocking - great value for money.

I have the x850xt AGP, it blows my mind! I have lower stats then you, and I get playability on HL2 with AA and AF on with reflect all and high settings. It's going for around US$150 - US$300 depending on where you look! Its not much more then the x800gto2 which can be modded into it, but why risk the mod when for hardly anymore more you can get the real thing?
