Graphics Upgrading my brother's MX440!!!

Hi guys, my brother still has an MX440!(yes they did exist, about the same time as the NES ) I think its time for an upgrade till he gets a new computer, but I dont know if the MX440 has a power connector to it? Can anyone tell me if it does, I am assuming it doesnt, can anyone confirm this? As I am assuming it doesnt I am looking to get him a ati 9600xt, 6600 or the x700 all the 256mb versions. Could anyone suggest which to get.

 

Just upgraded my brother's machine, which had the same card... weird coincidence, eh?

The MX440 has no power connector. I think the best buy out of those would be the 6600 - make sure the power supply can handle the upgrade, though.

 

Why wouldnt it? And yeah that is spooky, how old is your bro?

 

He's 14 atm... upgraded him to an A64/X800GTO (to replace his venerable Duron 1300+).

With regards to the PSU... I was just saying that you should ensure it has sufficient output capacity to handle the new card. Anything that's branded quality of 250W+ will run such a system happily.

 

thought about getting a 6800LE?

*cough* gaming *cough* mainly been playing cs:S but wants to play BF2. Can anyone tell me what the PSU on a advent 3511 is btw?

 

out of pure intrest ive still got an mmx440 running at home. mainly used for Music playback and internet surfing

 

MX440 isnt a bad card, its 128mb onboard ram, I used to be happy with my Nvidia TNT, and now my Radeon VE 64mb.
