    hello everyone

i've got an Athlon XP 1700+ with 256 DDR. I'm planning to get an Athlon XP 2600+ with one more 256 DDR module. I've heard that the best memory performance is achieved if memory modules are of the same brand. I'm not sure what kind of memory i currently have. Is there some program that i can check RAM specifications ? What kind of memory do you think I should buy ?

    Cheers

Ideally you want a Dual Channel set, so you may be better off selling the module you have and buying a matched pair

I think si-soft sandra will tell you which ram your running (2100/2700/3200). But unless you have dual ram i don't think matching the brand will matter that much.
