UPS talk - do they use more juice?

    as per title.. If i were to grab a UPS to connect a server running 24/7 would it use more electric than just the computer by itself?

    if the power dies then the server powers down isnt the end of the world, but the electric bill is :eeek:

    It would use a small amount to keep the battery charged but it would probably be quite insignificant. However if it's one of the "online" type that runs the inverter continuously the power consumtion could be higher due to the less than 100% efficiency of the inverter. Even then I can't imagine it would be enough to worry about.
