Apple US airport express ok in the UK?

    I know these units are supposed to be small and mobile - one of the uses touted for them is if you're travelling.

    They're ok on the power front, as they have multi region PSUs in them. And the plug is easilly changed, as it's the same system as on the PowerBook / iPod chargers.

    But what about the wireless chanels? I seem to recall that US wifi gear only uses channels 1-11, whereas in europe we use 1-13. Would it be OK to use one over here in blighty? Are the frequencies the same on for both regions on the first 11 channels? or can I update the firmware on the unit to make a new world AE an old world AE?

    I'm using a US G4 Powerbook, and that only gets channels 1-11... so basicly... i'm buggered if I want to access a network on channels 12, or 13... other than that it all works perfectly.

    so really only thing you'll loose out on is the extra two frequencies, which is only really called for if all the other 11 channels are bloated with other access points.

    So short story, buy one.
