This guy really wants to wear kilts! I was surprised to learn that Royal Mail carriers aren't allowed to wear kilts.

How common is it that people wear kilts over there anyway?

I've only ever seen one person wearing a kilt in public over here in the US, so it is pretty uncommon.

Kilts are generally only worn at formal occasions/functions over here, esp weddings.
It's uncommon for them to be worn in day to day terms.

I imagine that a kilt would be quite comfortable, especially for large men who spend a large part of their day walking around delivering mail. For the ones that deliver by truck, probably not as much.

Actually 100% of people here in Scotland wear kilts 100% of the time.

    I AM THE KILT COMMANDER.

Wouldn't that make your dangly bits, well, dangle all the time? I'm all for genital freedom but my army of tailed awesomeness(TM) needs some rest from time to time.

Also, it looks like a skirt with a (hairy) purse at the front.

The only place I've ever seen a kilt is in Canada when I visteded the capital, go figure. There is a bus driver I see occasionaly that playes the bagpipe on his breaks.

It depends on where you are. Out here on the loony left coast you see someone wearing one maybe once a month. I've got several and wear them a fair bit this time of year. In fact, I just got material yesterday to make a couple black dress kilts for myself and a co-worker.

A lot of the ones you see out here are more utilitatian ones made of cotton and having pockets and such. There are a couple companies in Seattle that make them, Utilikilts being the best known brand.

We have a pipers brigade that appears at special events. There used to be a store that just sold kilts pretty much, but I think it closed a few years ago. I haven't been shopping for kilts lately.

He could have spent $1800 on buying a pair of trousers that fit?

I've seen it in those porridge oat ads! If they're Scottish, they're muscle-y men in tight white vests and a kilt, with no under wear, even when it's snowing!

Maybe this postie just likes a bit of a breeze around his boys?

I sure wouldn't say no to a draft down there on sunny days.

I say go him, i can't understand why they wouldn't allow him to wear something more comfortable?

Even if not within regulations but it suited and looked right i can't see the harm it does to him, or the people he serves, his boss etc etc, if anything it would make him a happier and hopefulyly a better postman!

There are sometimes that i wish i owned a kilt, especially on hot days. I'm the person that the first chance i get shorts are on and i dont get out of them till it starts going cold, im naturally just really warm and cant stand the heat even that the UK gets!

I don't know how my girlfriend or for that matter any of my friends would react if i wore a kilt....
