    Hey all

I'm going pretty crazy here trying to install either Ubuntu or XBMC Live (preferred) on one of my PC's here.

I've tried unetbootin, LiveCreator, Ultra.iso and when I select boot from USB I get a black cmd screen with a cursor flashing. What the?????????

I have managed to do a win7 install off the same 3 usbs (tried all 3) yet I can't get ubuntu OR xbmc live to boot?

Is there something ovbious I am doing wrong? I cant see there being anything wrong as Win7 works fine yet this wont boot at all.

    Hope ya'll can help.

Some linux take a long time to initialize, and do sit there for a few minutes with the cursor blinking. Are you giving it enough time? If so, you might try universal usb. I've had the least problems with using it to make bootable flash images from isos.

I have had problems in the past with USB sticks being formatted as NTFS and not booting with Linux on them. They work best as FAT/FAT32. So double check how you've formatted the USB stick just in case :)

It worked very well for me with FAT16/32 USB. I used the tool included in Ubuntu to create the bootable stick. If you do not have Ubuntu installed, try to create a virtual machine with Ubuntu in it and create your stick from there.

This USB ubuntu is for test purpose ?
