any ideas on how to fix this? just switched back from vista to xp today, and my usb isn't working. i thought windows provided the drivers for that? am i going to have to reinstall? mouse and keyboard were working for the installation process, stopped as soon as i got all my drivers installed.
Which service pack (if any) was intergrated with your windows install disc. Have you since installed a service pack? Make sure at least sp1a (preferably sp2) is installed. Delete the root hubs and host controllers and either re-boot or refresh (make sure this is after sp instalation) If you installed xp without a service pack, then loaded on sp1 or 2, right click the root hubs and host controllers, and update the drives - let windows automatically search and it should find them.
it's windows xp media center 2005 - service pack 2 is integrated, i've had it installed before with USB working properly. USB was working fine until AFTER i installed my drivers. all chipset drivers are installed, that seems to be what is causing the problem
Try removing them all, then when they reinstall they could end up on the classic USB driver. Otherwise try the "have disk" method, then find the normal windows driver.
solved. USB is on the ICH9R chip, not the P35 chip, and the gigabyte website only lists a driver for the P35. going to the intel website and downloading the ICH9R driver, then using have disk [thanks krikkit] fixed it.
