OK so this isn't really modding as such, I just thought it was a fun thing to do when I get bored lol.

Basically I just switched the case of my USB drive to one that looked nicer... Plus I lost the lid to my USB drive so I have half an excuse.

Here is my 1GB Kingston drive with some random lid (some idiot stole the original lid :nono:)

And here is the new USB drive which I prefer the look of

    Isn't that so much nicer?

Lets start by taking the kingston apart, I did this by puting an object where the keyring should go (not the black bit, the silver bit) carefully I lifted the silver part away from the black part, then using knife I seperated all the parts.

Now lets take apart the new case, this was very easy as it was held together by screws.

Now it's apart, we need to slide the inner part out from the leather.

Remove the metal thing so we can open the case up...

Here are all the pieces from the leather USB drive

We open up the black case to find the dummy USB inside.

We can see by comparing it with the Kingston one, that it is smaller, so the kingston one will not fit. (well... not for the moment)

We need to cut off two of the holes that connect the two black pieces together, I simply pulled them off with some pliars.

We also need to protect the metal from touching the Kingston USB... it might short circuit or something bad
Some nice red tape should do the trick!

This means the Kingston USB will now fit

BUT because the two holes were taken off it can just slide around... not what we want

Some trusty bluetack should do it!

Then put it all back together...

    And we're done!

nice. I like that leather casing. Should protect pretty well against shocks as well. :)

Where did you get that from, BTW? (It seems to be a display model)
