I'm trying to get my usb device to install on my windows but the windows keep popping up messages such as "usb device detected" but then it pops up "device can not be reconized" or "device may not function correctly". i know the device works on my computer before but now it doesn't.... i think there has been some usb drivers still loaded on the computer so windows is refering to those old drivers... does anyone know where to delete files so windows treats the device as new and will attempt to receive new drivers and not use the old ones? or know how to resolve this usb problem..

i've updated all the usb drivers and still doesn't not work...
hope someone can help me, thanks.

    what device?

ive had problems with usb wireless nic's and flash card readers ... usually you have to install the devices drivers/software before you connect the device.

thanks for responding, sorry i didn't add some details, part of my fustration

i'ma running windows xp and ima trying to connect my cellphone to my comptuer through a usb cable

i'ma suppose to setup my phone as a modem so programs can connect.

yea i've read alot of places where u suppose to run the driver before u connect BUT the driver tutorial for my phone tells me to let windows detect it first then lead the installion to the drivers....

but my windows won't detect and pops this message

ok , when that pops up, just go to the device manager, find the big yellow arrow, and double click it to bring up the properties.

    insert driver disk.

    click update or reinstall driver.

    should be set after that.
