My mp3 player was listed under USB controllers in the device manager. then i updated the driver and now its under disk drives. this is a problem because napster and windows media player wont recognize it. ive tried uninstalling it through the device mangager, but it always comes back. ive re-installed the firmware for my player but get no change. any suggestions on how to get it back in the right place? player: Samsung yp-910gs my pc: compaq presario, amd athlon 3000+ 2.16ghz, 512 mb pc2700, windows XP, SP2
It may be one of the mp3 players that doubles as a USB thumb drive? Try just dragging and dropping the files into the player, and see if it reads them and plays them like normal.
ok i thing your mp3 player is not supported by napster because your mp3player should show up under disk drives because in a sense a mp3 player is just a flash drive and it has a player builtin to read mp3 files somebody might be able to help if you post what your mp3 player is. I dont know why media player doesnt see it because media player sees my flash drive as a media device
@ zephyr: it doesnt. @ casyblackburn: its the Napster/Samsung yp-910. napster definatly supports it. i had it working already. it was listed under USB controllers in the device manager until i updated the driver through windows. then it went up to 'disk drives' and all of a sudden napster cant see it. so basicaly i need to remove it from disk drives. but simply right-clicking and "uninstall" doesnt work. is there any other way to remove/uninstall it from there?
just right click on it and hit update drivers then manual then iwanna select the driver than click have disk then choose the driver
Go through your Device Manager and uninstall all drivers. Then, unplug it and restart. Once restarted, plug it in, and the computer should recognize it as a completely new device. Install the right drivers, and it should be good to go.
i already did that. i even reverted my pc to last week. i cant stop the thing. XP is just to damn powerful.... i think ive tried everything possible. its time to break stuff..........
