Hey Guys, I have been using Vista Ultimate for a while now and I haven't had any major problems with the OS. So far I only have one problem with Vista and that is where I need your guys help. The problem is USB Ports on my system under Vista. Whenever I Plug-In my USB Thumb/Flash Drive, My PSP or my External HD into any of my USB Ports, they lose connectivety while I am copying stuff. It could be anything as of copying files.

Now whenever I Plug-In my USB Thumb/Flash Drive, My PSP or my External HD into any of my USB Ports under XP, there is no problem.

So if anyone can help me with this problem, it would really make my life more fun under Vista. This is the only problme I have so far with Vista, USB Ports. So Please help me out.:wallbash:

    Thank You.

    P.S. Fusion:clap:

Very weird problem that! Could it be a PSU problem? I know it works in XP but does Vista require more? Drivers for the mobo?

Installed your motherboards USB drivers? Or are you using the generic ones that Vista installs? Check your motherboards company website for updated drivers.

I doubt it'll be because you may have USB1.1, and the devices you listed may be USB2.0, but as you said it works under XP fine, so that won't be the issue. Have you downloaded the 64bit drivers for your motherboard? Are you sure they are 64bit drivers, installing 32bit drivers may lead to the problems you are having now.

well I have formatted the HD so may times and the problem is still there. I am guess that there is a problem with Vista not my ports. I mean if my stuff works fine under XP, won't won't it work under Vista. I was hopeing that there might be some patch that I can install to make Vista better in the USB area, but so far I haven't gotten a good answer from the web. I even searched Microsoft Knowldge Base, not there. Hopefully someone will have an answer for me, if not then I guess I have to put up with the problem untill my next system is ready, which isn't due untill first half of 08.

    THX Guys!

Are they the onboard USB ports or from an add on card?
