I have a broadband through a wireless router.
I have this machine (gisele) connected via wireless.

I have another machine (yasmine) which doesn't have a wireless card, but is next to gisele so I can have a wired connection.

Can I give yasmine access to the internet via gisele?

That (ICS) simply isn't working for me.
I wonder if it's because I can't get windows updates for the other machine (yasmine) since I can't get it online...

Are you using a Crossover Ethernet Cable between the two machines?

I am. (or the two NICs are good enough for it not to matter anyway.)

Weirdly, since restarting yasmine she's started downloading updates!
So she is online, just can't see anything over HTTP?

    Any ideas are most welcome.

There's definitely HTTP traffic there then. Have you tried running the network connection wizard again?
Alternatively, Set the IP Manually, and specify the Gateway as the IP of the "router" machine.

Cant you just bridge the connections? I Have my laptop plugged directly into my desktop and then my desktop plugged into the router by the other ethernet port, all I had to do was go to network connections, select both connections (wireless and wired in your case) then rightclick and choose "bridge connections". As far as my router is concerned the laptop is might as well be plugged straight into it as long as the desktop is on.

    Thanks guys.

Weirdly, if I try and bridge the connections the wireless one just breaks.

Now that the updates have been downloaded, I'll try re-running the wizard.
    I will report back tomorrow.

    That sounds perfect atomic, thanks.
Will try it now (odd that ICS isn't working though).

    edit:
after a few attempts, that program from Atomic is working.

Yer it's not a bad little bit of software :) Glad you found it useful.

Good if you want to block specific types of net useage too.
