Ok my question is this: should I spend about $110 Usd to get a ps2 now, or should I go and get and 7600gt or equivalent card now, and get a ps2 next year?
Save it all up and buy an 8800GTX later Depends on what you want to play really though, a 7600gt probably wouldn't last a whole long time unless you don't mind scaling back the quality settings a bit.
I'll say the PS2 just because there are about upteen million great games ready to play when you get it!
surely you can pick up either for less than $110. 8600gt is on sale for $80 right now, and a used ps2 should go for about the same.
Absoloutley a new graphics card. You will appreciate it so much more. Plus the PS2 is getting pretty out dated now...
game that are on ps2 i want to play, are mainly: Okami the ratchet and clack series mgs katamari xenosaga and some other games. For pc (either they play like crap or video card not powerful enough) crysis half life 2 e1 half life 2 e2 portal.
Neither is anyone, my console has lasted fine with plenty play since August 2006 still going strong. I find it ironic you're avoiding the Xbox 360 due to it's failure problems but happy to go and buy a PS2 the 2nd (or 1st from my own experience) most unreliable console! Being made by Microsoft has what to do with it exactly? aside from any fanboyish hatred/loving of a particular company/brand whatever. PS2 has a very large quantity of good games available for quite cheap. Gives you a wide choice for a smaller budget. However online gaming isnt great. if your into that. Xbox 360 has a fairly large quantity of good games (Not just shooters and racers you know) and has a great online system if your into multiplayer/downloadable content etc, but obviously costs more than the PS2 and any games you get.
From what you've listed as games you intend to play after either purchase: PS2 without contest. You either really chug along with the new video card or just enjoy whatever PS2 games you've listed or intend to play without consequence. I'm bafflingly surprised that there's debate at all over this...
