Hi everyone :D. I just got a new phone (my first data phone) and I was wondering what you guys would recommend for useful or fun apps. I looked up some stuff on google and downloaded the recurring ones that I saw, but I wanna know what you guys think is good/fun/useful. I'm looking for anything from photo apps to utility apps to games, anything at all, it just has to be free. Thanks for the help in advance :).

What phone did you get? Check Xda devs they usually have a lot of useful tips on their forums.

    List incoming!

Advanced Task Killer - Useful 1 touch to close apps and free up memory

Air Control Lite - Guide planes into land, good fun if not slightly addictive.

Air Horn - Pointless fun noises, enough said.

Alchemy - Fun and educational, there's no chance I'm discovering them all, there's just too many!

Angry Birds (+seasons) - Need I say more?

App 2 SD - Easy transfer for apps to the SD card.

    Astro - Quality file manager

Battery Indicator - Gives you the remaining battery %age in the taskbar in numbers!

Blow Up Lite - Fun fun fun!

Bubble Blast 2: Another fun game.

    City Jump: Another game.

    Connect 4 - Play Connect 4 online!

Ebay - Bid from your phone etc..

Engadget - Nice UI for the Engadget site

Glympse - Share your location (if you want to!)

Google Goggles - It knows what you take a picture of, it's a bit scary sometimes.

Google Sky Map and Google Earth - If you're into that sort of thing..

Instant Heart Rate - Somehow it works!

    Kayak - Get flight/hotel prices.

Last.fm - Stream music to your phone, obviously data intensive.

    Moron Test - Random fun.

myPlayer - It was really good until they removed the Iplayer but it's still alright.

Paper Toss - Flick the paper into the bin!

Random Lolcat - If you're into that sort of thing (I am!)

Remote Droid - Turn your phone into a wireless mouse!

Speedtest - Mobile version of speedtest.net.

TuneIn Radio - Best radio app out there.

Urbanspoon - Shake for your dinner info!

    That'll do for now.

I believe the incredible is on 2.2 is it not? In which case I would leave out advanced task killer. The memory management of 2+ is much better than in previous versions and task killers can have an adverse effect on their workings.

For example an app will be "running" in the background, but generally not using any cpu if its something like a game you just stopped playing. It will however be holding onto some memory, this is fine. When something else wants that memory the OS will kill the game. If you have previous killed the app in the task killer, the OS will occasionally find itself trying to remove something from memory which isn't actually there, this can cause lags and force closes.

I used to use and recommend advanced task killer, but since I stopped using it I have not noticed any difference in battery life and I have found my phone to be more stable. I had all the key apps unticked anyway, so it was really only killing games I had just played etc.

If you find you only get good battery life with a task killer, then I suggest you just look into which apps are killing your battery and replace those instead. You can always kill misbehaving apps from the application settings anyway.

I'll add a few more here...

    Games
Abduction (good doodle jump type game)
The Moron Test - the free version only has the first level, but great for showing friends
Robo Defence free - tower defence type game
    Paper Toss

    Other Apps
ES File Explorer instead of astro - works very smoothly with samba file shares
Chrome to Phone (if you use chrome) - sends links straight to the phone - very useful.
Droid Stats - includes a nice widget to keep track of monthly minutes/texts/data
Shazam - if you havnt already. SoundHound is also good
Titanium Backup - lets you uninstall stock apps and make/restore full backups of everything else *Requires Root*
Handcent SMS - more customisable sms app

    Widgets
Fancy Widget - good skinable clock and weather
Power Control - free version has a nag, but many more features than the built in android one.
    Clockr - minimalistic text clock

Also, i use ADW launcher, but i've never used the HTC sense ui, so i'm not sure if its better.

I'll agree with matticus about ATK. It really helped when my phone (ZTE Blade aka orange San Francisco) was runnin the stock 2.1, but since moving to a 2.2 rom I never use it anymore.

If your looking to be even more adventurous, try getting a custom rom such as the CyanogenMod on on there. TAKE A NAND BACKUP FIRST ;) (use clockwork)
