Yes and no. They mentioned the non-impediment papers, but did say that in theory she has to be resident in the UK to obtain those. Seeing as we've been here a while the mairie said it's not worth the effort on our part for now, and we should just go and see them with the all the crap we have already and then on verra. So there's still hope - especially if we put on our puppy eyes and say "the mean man from the British council was very mean to us ". Sort of. I may have left out "random", and "geeks". But she knows it's got to do with the internet It's a bit of commute but one has to suffer for comedy... I'm moving [edit] I mentioned I e-mailed a complaint... turns out the guy dealing with my complaint agreed with... ... by writing ... My arse he regrets it, but I do believe the "speaking to him" part. From having spent (an unfortunate) time in Britain, I've learnt that being "spoken to" sucks. A lot. Even if you don't agree with what you're being told. I hope it's the same within government agencies. The dude dealing with the complained did explain - fully - why she would need to spend three weeks in Britain to obtain the certificate. Basically, it's the law indeed: but this time, it came with a big explanation of the law (as stupid as it may be). And to top it off, I think we can use that explanation as leverage as to why my other half wouldn't need a certificate of non-impediment: taking into account the inherent lazy nature ("striiiiiiiiiike!... but not on Saturday") of the French, I hope they will agree that this law is ridiculously insane. I'm both waiting for and am going to request my documents (ah, the pleasure of having moved around a bit) and then we'll take it up with the mairie. Fingers crossed!
