Hi all, I think this may be my first post here allthough I have been "lurking" for a while now! My question to all you experts is this: I am about to attempt my first real "from scratch" mod based around a mini-itx epia motherboard. The thing i want to put it in has just enough room for a laptop dvd, laptop hard drive, and mini psu. I have aquired several laptop dvd's and I want to be able to use one of them with a normal ide cable. Does anyone know where in the UK I can get a converter kit to be able to do this. (I allready have one for the hard drive but it wont fit the dvd's ) Thanks in advance for any help Hods
Well if you are in the us, there is this one here! If you are in the uk, there is this one here! edit: doh, thread said uk!
I have had the same prob - everybody does the laptop hdd 40 pin convertors but only one place afaik will do the tosh micro 50 pin convertors - they do sell them seprately ( not just in bulk 50 pieces gulp!) posted by me not so long ago........ UK Laptop DVD -=-IDE 40 Pin http://www.baber.com/baber/products..._cd_adapter.htm http://www.toshiba.com/taissdd/tech...02connect.shtml ultim8 do a case with the convertor built in - but can't get them seperately either:/ quote from an email sent :- Hi Alex Yes we take credit cards, perhaps best to enter the order online - we have stock. http://www.milesie.co.uk/asp/productdetail.asp?ProductID=337 so get em there - bout 7 quid i believe.....afaik they are THE only ppl in the uk with them...
yep you wont get one of these in the uk without searching for months, HDD adapters a re ten a penny but the cd-rom ones are like rocking horse poo, i got one on ebay last week tho
Jordanis3r you are a legend, thanks for the link I'll mail them now and see if they will sell me one. Thanks for all the help guys, I am sure I will plenty more questions to ask before this project is complete Hods
Just contacted miles, and they have 3 left in stock!! I have one of them (hopefully ) They have added them as individual items to the website now if any body else needs one. Here's their e-mail with the link. BTW - they are about £13 in total (inc Vat & P+P) Dear Hods! Thanks for your email. I've added to the web site, we only have 3pcs in stock. http://www.milesie.co.uk/shop/asp/product.asp?product=337 Regards Richard Chapman Miles Industrial Electronics Ltd
Hehe, I might be partly responsible for that since I pointed 14 persons to them over the last weeks...
lol yer mashie - thx for pointin out milesie in the 1st place plus i whinged at them last week cos I could only buy bags of 50!!! errk!!!
i would argue the point that this is a modding related article - hence should stay there - as the many req have originated there as mine did just ignore meh if i 'm being a pain
not being a pain... I'm just thinking of when you get all of your info where this thread will help future members. Typically, when people are looking for parts info, they come to hardware. I am not trying to nit pick and I don't have a problem with it starting in modding because I can see why. But a lot of helpful part numbers are being quoted and it would help people in the future looking for the same info if it is here.
Sorry guys didnt mean to cause any arguments, can all we all just try and be friends Seriously - thanks for all the help today, my first modding project is now a big step nearer to being complete.
no problem that is what we are here for. We are anxious to hear how it comes out. You weren't the problem anyway... it was all Jordanis3r...
hehe huw moi ?- wheres my jigsaw with the flesh cutting blade mwahahahaha! edit - man did i take some weird pills last night or what!!!!
