I'm in the process of using MS Publisher 2003 to make a multiple-choice test. At the bottom of the test, I'd like to include a "Tabulate Test Results" button that, when pressed, will cause calculated values (e.g., percent correct) to appear in blanks on that document.

I'm not sure how to go about doing this. I've assigned numerical values to the option buttons in the test, but I'm not sure where to go from here. I've tried adding a Submit button to the document, but that seems to be useful only if I want to send the test information elsewhere. What should I do? Does MS Pub. 2003 have all the features necessary to make a document of the sort I'm trying to make? If not, is there some other program I should use?

    Thanks,

It's probably technically possible to do this in Project. When you hit Submit, you could have the results sent elsewhere, like Access, to be compared against the correct answers, and then sent back to Project. But then you're looking at some rather hefty VB coding that would be much, much more pain and effort than it's worth.

How is this test going to be administered? Surely it would be easier to have people take the test online rather than in Publisher, which they may or may not own?

Unless I'm completely misunderstanding what it is you want to do, this sounds more like a web programming project than a Project...project.

If it's going to take programming to make this work anyway, then you may as well spend that time and effort on learning something that's marketable and useful for a whole host of other purposes.

I'll go see if I can dig up any web services that can help you build this automatically.

Edit: This might do the trick, but it does look like a paid service - http://www.databaseapplications.com.au/jtest.html.
