hello, I am trying to use my second tv as a second monitor. So far i'm pretty happy with it but the resolution on the tv (1024x768) is not a widescreen one. the tv can stretch it out so the entire screen is filled but then I lose part off the bottom. I can stop the tv from stretching it out but then its a smaller image on the screen. I only have 2 options when I try to set the resolution, 800*600 and the 1024x768. anyone know of a way that I can get a full screen image without losing part of it off the bottom of the screen?

check your tv again and look for a "stretch" mode not "zoom", stretch won't cut off the picture but may mke everything look fat..

The other option is to try using a DVI->HDMI cable and the latest drivers, if your lucky the tv will be detected and give you 720p/1080p options. OR there is an app out there (name escapes me) that lets you tweak (carefully) the cards setting for the port to get a 720p image, along with refresh, over under scan and many other things that could hose your tv if done wrong. and the tv don't have sanity checks.

I think I remember seeing in the manual for the tv not to use a hdmi signal from a pc. but I could be mistaken or maybe i read it wrong. i'll take another look if I can find it again.
    Thanks for the help.

    what video card & tv?

i had a hell of a time getting our 2 32" lcd's at work running off of intel integrated graphics over vga using dual dvi to dvi/vga splitters. stupid dell lunchbox pcs.
at home, i just use the ATI driver to force 720p and it's fine either over vga or dvi.

I think Rivatuner will let you alter resolution and such if you have an nVidia card.

its an ati 4850 and a toshiba 32hlv66

I found a setting in the tv that lets me adjust the height of the display. I almost have the full image now but there is still some cut off.
how do you use the ati driver to force 720p?
