hey guys imma start a mod soon and im looking for a dual UV cothode kit, BUT what i need are uv cathodes that dont give off that light purplish light most uv cathodes do, im looking for something of black-light quality, something that doesnt give off that much visible light and lots of UV. can you guys tell me if something like that even exists and where i can find one? Thanks in advance :D

if u dont want to much purple you could use UV LEDs, they dont put off as much purple as a CCFL, but they are kinda focused on one spot, unlike a UV CCFL which fills the whole case.

The "UV" LEDs i have seen put out many times more visible violet light than UV CCFL.

All of these light sources should be called NUV, or Near Ultra Violet because they can be seen, i am not sure you get the glowing effect on white and other reactive surfaces with real UV, but that is irrelevant because you can't get real UV sources afaik.

The reason that UV LEDs seem to output less violet light is that they put out less light all over, but the precentage of visible violet is a lot higher in LEDs than in good CCLF.

yea, none of these will really do pure uv like ur wanting, even the lights they use on like csi to see the *cough* stuff on ur sheets */cough* emit a good deal of visible light, if your looking for a good deal on cathodes you might wanna check www.elwirecheap.com ive always had good experience with those people, and the use then intuitive ez-connect connectors, and pretty long cathode wires against others ive seen, they have the whole kit, w/ the molex passthrough and the on off toggle switch
