That wasn't all that cheap, actually. I know a place where I can get them cheaper (without the casing). I assume that you know that Lazer LED is just a name - they do not emit only one wavelength and frequency as a laser would do.

Oh, ok. I am pondering with the idea of lighting an entire case with UV myself, but I am not sure whether to use lots of LEDs or just a cathode. I am leaning towards the latter idea, though, because of the cost/light ratio.

Why would you have to sign stuff to get UV leds? Ain't that dangerous or so I've heard.

i dont know but there were lots of problems last time i looked at all this (bout 1 1/2 years ago tho) basically if u could find em then you had to go through hell and back to get the supplier to sell em to you as an individual and farnell + rs wouldnt stock em let alone mappers or rapid

EDIT it didnt matter what quantities either

There's this dude on eBay that sells leds from Hong Kong in bulk quantities. I just checked and he has a bag of 100 UV leds for 18 bucks with free shipping.

    L I N K !!!

A month or so ago I bought a bag of 100 3mm blue leds from him and didn't have any problems at all. Shipping was about a week, but it was air-mail from Hong Kong - even had funky stamps!

He takes PayPal... You gotta checking account? I think you can sign up with them without a card, it's just that your shipping addy won't be "confirmed" for a little while... However, since eBay bought them out, I'm not 100% sure anymore...

Ya can get same LEDS in the uk for 25p each if ya don't want to wait for them cheaper from Hong kong - they take switch or delta via Nochex - ya don't even have to register with nochex either..

hint: if ya want loads buy em from HK - if a few then e-mail me..

Just bought 100 3mm Blue LEDs and 100 5mm UV Leds.

By the way, you don't have to have a credit card, debit works like a credit card, so long as if you have a VISA debit card, from your bank, you can use it where VISA credit cards are accepted.
