I have a UV cc and want to get some paint or something that is UV reactive that I can put on my PC what do you guys suggest. I have tried getting UV nail varnish but have had no luck and some odd looks!!

UV reactive paint is the best thing but nail varnish should work just fine.

The UV paint/varnish that I have had experience with wouldn't do well on cables. it dries to a consistency much like dried Elmer's glue--would eventually crack and peel off.
Tried clear UV (dries clear, turns blue under UV) on just the edges of cards to see if there was any effect. Not enough to justify it. Had to get the UV real close to see anything. Wouldn't swab that stuff directly onto a circuit board; you're asking for trouble.

Got a modder friend who painted the edges of his cards bright white and uses a blue cathode. Believe it or not, it has just as much effect as UV. Actually looks pretty cool.

I'd suggest using some Conformal Coating, its made for sealing PCB's and should be much safer than paint. It also contains a UV reactive dye that glows blue under UV light. Also if you get the silicone instead of acrylic, its more flexible, i've sprayed it on spiral wrap and it hasnt peeled or flaked. Here's a link to some online. i bought mine at a local electronics store.

I was able to get another odd look at Radio Shack today. I asked the guy about conformal coating. Just a blank stare....

On the nail polish note (even worse looks on this one!) i discovered something. My wife has some french manicure top coat stuff. It is clear. It doesn't mention anything about about being UV reactive, but it produces a really eerie bluish glow under my UV. Kinda ghostly. Only thing is, her stuff is $19 a bottle....and she won't let me near it.

I noticed that one of the ingredients is D&C #2 Violet. Wonder if that is what is glowing. I think I'll go looking for some top coat Wally-World tonite.

Shame I couldn't have thought of this before I submitted that last post...

Unloaded: How much can you paint with that 10oz can of Conformal Coating? Do you have to use multiple coats? And how well does it glow?

Also if ya read macroman's guide on painting fans, you can see what he did with some of it, btw he's the one that pointed towards this stuff.

That looks sweet...but...um...why do you have a small acrylic cube painted with conformal coating? :eyebrow:

I guess I'm gonna have to get me some of that schtuff. Thanks for the info.
