Where can I get uv red plexi in the US? Performance-PCs stopped stocking. It needs to be actually red, no pink or orange. Please link to pages if possible. Thanks in advance for the help.

I had problems with this too. Delvies sells UV plexi, but it's not as intense as perspex UV red. Do you already have some plexi that you need an exact color match on?

No matching needed. This is me planning for my first mod this summer.

Thanks for the link. What thickness would be good? Will be a cube (clear acrylic) with a motherboard tray and hd/dvd racks (uv red).

You realize it WILL be pink/orange-ish, right? Delvie's sells Chemcast brand plexi, which is what I used in BlooBalls. Other US companies sell Acrylite brand. Their UV red (from what I've seen,) is a very watered out pink color. There are companies here who claim to sell the EU made Perspex brand, which have a deeper UVred, but often they don't deal with small timers like us.

Thickness depends on how you plan to build it. If you have a full sub-frame, you can use 1/8". I would go for a combination of 1/8" and 1/4". 1/8" for cover panels and faceplates, and 1/4" for supports and structural stuff. You will want to mix in as much 1/8" as possible. My mostly 1/4" case ended up weighing a ton.:hehe:

A lot of the plastics companies sell samples of their stock on the cheap. Since your mod is planned a bit in advance, it may well be worth spending a few bucks to check the color under various lighting sources to make sure you get what you want.

That's one of the reasons I say some companies won't take us seriously. I've made numerous requests for samples/quotes, and recieved zero replies. Delvie's has my business because they did respond to my e-mail.

That's good to know, Cheapskate. Really a shame that they don't respond to potential customers on a consistent basis. Would make me wonder if their overall customer service was shoddy.

It's been half-n-half for me regarding Devlie's. They respond to some stuff, and ignore others. But they do tend to respond more often than not. Unlike other places. At least the product they sell is decent, and shipping's reasonably quick. I've spent probably hundreds of dollars with them up to now!

That issue is why I stick with my local Boulder, CO dealer/fabricator Colorado Plastic Products - http://www.coloradoplastics.com/ .
You would be surprised how a face to face and "just happen to have a couple pictures" can change an attitude real quick. It's a shame that not everyone has a local supplier. I've even made a small display case for one of the local ACE hardware stores after getting some acrylic from them.

As I mentioned in some misc. threads, until recently I was a face to face shopper and did little on line. It helps to have people tell us who are responsible shops.

My $0.02 - how ever little that is work now days!

@jhanlon303 - That won't work for me either... I have a hard time getting people to treat me seriously because I look MUCH younger than I actually am. Then there's the local 'Bubba' factor...

We/I totally hijacked this thread.:D Sorry, Asulk.

Good news for people who like uv red plexi! Performance PCs actually has the ACRyan red acrylic sheet back in stock! Of course I didn't say anything until *after* placing my order for one. ;P

@Scirocco: finally! Was it Performance PCs that was the problem, or ACRyan? I heard that ACRyan discontinued it...

PPC's is just the reseller. AC Ryan probably ran out of supply on it or something.

The uv red panel is still showing as "out of production" on ACRyan's site. I think the problem was on their end.

Does anyone have a pic comparing the ACRyan acrylic and the Delvies acrylic under normal and black light?
