Ok, i know i've asked this before but does anyone know of any coolers which use the mounting holes on the voodoo 5500 card?

I'm going to put my old v5 in my webserver, but want to change the shagged out stock coolers. Any ideas?

    Thanks

Ghetto mod = keeping things together with string, rubber bands and **** loads of masking tape etc... instead of well-placed push-clips or Arctic Silver epoxy.

Ok, i've had some interesting reply's but does anyone know of a cooler that will DEFINITELY fit the mounting holes? I really don't want to epoxy it to the chip(s). Sorry i'm being a pain.

    help?

    Thanks

A Blorb or a Silver Orb will definitely fit on the push-clips, but you might have to mod the cooler to prevent it touching other components. If you're going to use 'Orbs, you should really power them straight form the PSU as they might over-stress the fan headers on the V5.

exellent, just what i needed to hear! But 2 things 1. i thought the distance between the 2 holes was too small for standard coolers and 2 what do you mean "mod" them (how exactly)?

I was not going to plug the coolers into the card anyway, because it has the smaller GFX card fan headers.

Thanks for all your help! If you could answer those 2 question's then i'll be happy & content!

    Thanks

The Blorb is bgger than the stock coolers on a V5 so it might interfere with any components on the PCB that stick out.

I really do think you can use the push-clips on the V5 PCB to mount a Blorb or similar.

I'm not being rude but do you have a V5500? I'm asking this because i've been told it has non standard mounting holes which won't fit blorb's etc. I haven't tried myself (obviously) but i have to say the distance between the holes looks too small.

Thanks for all your help though its been very useful.

I'll just experiment on it when i get my new gfx card (which is a ti4600 btw) .

    Thanks

Actually, I have 2. No I haven't tried mounting Blorbs on them, but I've been told that you can.

I'm going to put the V5 AGP in my Dell when I finally upgrade and use it as a S@H cruncher/firewall/small file server. I'm going to try to use the V5 PCI in my latest rig, whatever it may be, so I can play oldies and the latest&greatest.
