If the controller and link box comes in under £100 it would certainly shake up the market, with a capable PC you can have console like gaming in the living room for a lot less than a console.

Better'n console, in fact, 'cos although you'll have a bit of latency and perhaps some compression artefacts plus be limited to 1080p, the PC will be able to use larger textures, more complex geometry, and benefit from PC-only features like Steam Workshop and mods in general.

As far as i'm aware 4K films on disc will be making an appearance by the end of this year alongside the compatible players, therefore the 4K push will receive the injection it needs to take off properly - you guys probably know more about this than me. A 1080P micro console will be no good to me because I hope to upgrade before Xmas, and I wonder how long it will be before a 4K version of the micro console is released, and how that amount of data will get pushed from room to room.

It's going to be many, many years (imho) before we see a 4k console, the newest generation of consoles are still struggling with 1080p, it could take another four generations worth (30-50 years) of consoles before we get a 4k Xbox or PlayStation.
