Hi, im thinking of getting one the two mentioned on the topic title to cool my gulftown.
I have seen reviews on both but i never came across camparison on them, anyone could feedback on which is the best? I like the look of the Vantage and the info lcd on top of the pump but i also like that the H70 rad is thicker and on a push/pull system, plus Corsair support team is 5 star.
    Any ideas/sujestions?

    Thanks in advance

AFAIK the the Corsair design draws air into the case,so you have take into account the exhaust out of the case.
I too have been looking for a good cooler.CoolIT do one simular to the ECO but with a larger radiator that looks good, but then you,ve got the problem of whether it will fit in the case.

trying to find camparison reviews to match your kit is always a problem.I geuss we have to pick through the info, then apply it to our owns needs.

I'd take the Corsair. I have reviewed the H50 and have currently the H70 around and both have been excellent. I'd also take the H50 over the ECO...

WB: you don't NEED to have the fans suck air into the case, that's just the recommended way and offers the best cooling performance.

H50 Is really good, can't fault it.

I might upgrade to the H70 and put the H50 in my lan rig.

HI when you say "Gulftown" is this a 980X is so either will be on the limit if you intend to overclock.
For that the dual rad COOLIT ECO 240MM ALC would be a better move with its double size rad.

    For a about £30 more.
Otherwise you will be bouncing between 90 and 100deg @ 4ghz or above.

I have the H50 and really miss my custom water but love my mATX lan rig.

The H50 on my i7 920 @ 3.2ghz idles at around 55 degrees. It works but its not that great.

for a hex core would defo go with something with at least a 240mm rad problem is then locating it.

    Disagree Rob, I've got my 980x @ 4.4GHz with the H70 in push/pull EXHAUST and I don't even hit 75C under load....

Idle temps are 35-40 with one core being slightly warmer than the others.

So what v-core are you using?
And is "load" prime 95 running 100% on all cores?
From what i have seen 1.4V is the max the H70 can handel.
And around 1.375v for the ALC (single rad option).

What is the pump sound like on the Corsairs? I mean like if you have the PC on the desk next to you.

It's the rad fans that make the noise :=)
    Wouldn't worry about the pumps.

V-core is circa 1.38v and yes, in this instance load is prime95. I realise I may have been lucky with my particular gulftown (in the same respect as I was very lucky with my Q9450 prior to this) but don't be so quick to discount the thermal performance of the H70.

Obviously, this is caveated: You'll need a good airy case to get the most out of it. There's no point suffocating it... but yes, the stock fans are loud - hence me fitting typhoons.

It's more vibrations that bothers me. I almost bought an H50 a while back but I have my PC on my desk next to the monitor. So I hear everything. And I'd heard of the pump causing vibrations and noises.

It's not fans that bother me as they can be turned down. So long as they don't rattle and its only whoosing air that is ok. My current PSU fan has an annoying habit of vibrating through the case and then the desk. I can put up with it, but if it was any worse I would be a very unhappy chappy.

OK this can be a bit tricky as the H50 / 70 and the ALC use a pump mounted on the CPU waterblock. This is then fixed directly to the motherboard. So isolating the fixings from the case may be a Little tricky, so a separate pump or drive bay pump / reservoir may be better.
But i would guess your DVD drive still makes more noise / vibration.

Yes the DVD drive is the worst offender, but it is hardly used. Where as the fans or pump would be going continuously. Especially if I overclocked. And with a H50/70 I would overclock :D

EDIT: Sorry for hijacking the thread *looks sheepish*

    Hey
Thanks for the replies people, i have however in the end decided to go for custom watercooling instead of those 2 kits.

    Thanks again

    Hello,

I bought CoolIT Eco 120 and second day I gave it back because of the noisy pump. Even my stock fan start making the same noise under the load @ 4.00ghz. But the pump of CoolIT Eco making the same noise every time, even idle mode and its not good the idea of wc system should be silent. The fun was ok actually it can replaceable with the most silent one if needed.

Now I am looking for Corsair H70 but afraid of the same pump noise. Could you g,ve some idea and recommendation

I am using Zalman HTPC case (horizontal) so silence is the no.1 issue. The case has 240mm exhaust on top cover and I'll install radiator there.

    Thanks.

I cannot hear my pump on the H70 over the noise of the fans. If you want silent silent, then you're looking at a custom watercooling solution - but even then, you'll need fans on the rads, so not silent...

The H70 pump is whisper quiet but you might want to swap the supplied fans for a quiter model as i did.
