Hi. I've been using some vantec UV LED fans - blue color with a sunbeam rheobus. I noticed the brighness of the fan and leds are dimmer now when I compare one thats been on my rheobus for a month with a new fan. Tried both in the rheobus and on the PSU directly. Not sure what's going on. If its the rheobus, or if it's the fans?
Haven't heard of a problem like that, surely the LED's should be dim if the voltage has been turned down... not just for using the rheobus [edited by linear for continuity after major thread cleanup]
Yeah. It's strange. When the old fan and a new one are both plugged into my psu directly, the new one is much bright. Not sure if the leds just wore out or if the rheobus had anything to do with it.
Did you buy both the fans at the same time? If not maybe the LEDs have been changed to brighter ones at the production line.
I've noticed the same thing happening with my Coolermaster Neon Blue LED fans. They seem to have got dimmer over the past 6 months. Probably poor quality LED's...
This is the first I've heard of this tok3n, but I will keep a sharp eye around to see if anyone else is experiencing a problem with the Vantec's.....you know a UV ccfl would always brighten things up with those Vantec's!
Thanks Phire. Anyone have similar problems like this? I hope it's not the Sunbeam rheobus (I love mine). But I'd like to find out what is going on.
I reckon my Coolermaster White (yes, Phire, WHITE!) LED fans have gotten dimmer over the past few months, I've had them 7-volted on a Vantec Nexus Rheobus most of the time...could just be my eyes lying to me though
well they definitely won't fade at 7v normally. I have no clue how they would react under a variable voltage device like the Nexus ove time. (although it seems to slowly damage them?) BTW, you are doing the right thing with white!
