I am about to reinstall vista because I am overdue a reinstall.

Now steam seems to be a very portable app, I moved it from C to D without any issues, after I reinstall windows it should work perfectly fine, correct?

If not when I reinstall steam, over the top of where it is on D: will it keep all my saves etc?

And all of my games are on D, likelihood of those working is reasonable yes?

    Cheers in advance.

You shouldn't need to even reinstall - you should just be able to create a shortcut to steam.exe

It may ask to install the steam service when you run it for the first time. Just allow it and it should run fine.

Should definitely work as long as the partition is still intact. I just resized my C drive, installed 7 on a seperate partition, and steam still worked on Windows 7 after installing the steam service. Brilliant :)

Excellent cheers guys. I went ahead with the reinstall anyway. Even if I do lose my games I can always redownload and I am not bothered about save games.

I just hope it works as you say it should.
