whats the difference, except for the ovbious? are VFD's better than LCD's or the other way round, and why the price difference? if you had a choice which would you go for? --------------------------------------------- totally unrelated, does anyone know the code of a transistor that can handle enough current for most fans? i wanna have fan control via 555 chips on PCB's, and var. resistors... but i need to know transistor code ....
i think they're about the same price, i think ill go with LCD, just becos i like them... and you can get a 2 line one for the same as a 1 line VFD... (farnell.... there's always l8er on....
??? The VFD's I've seen have always been way more expensive than LCD's. Especially if you're talking seriel ones, just go to Matrix Orbital and see! If you want a clear example of what the difference between them, just look around. Alarm clocks and digital watches are a good example of typical LCD's, while a lot of newer car stereo's use VFD's.
What? VFd's are nearly twice the price of LCD's. They work well over large temp diffs and update v.quickly and IMO look funky - though some really nice MO lcd's look as good... Cheers, r.
vfds from MO seem a lot more expensive than an equivalent LCD.... dunno.... I'm hoping to setup a CF LCD sometime this week (maybe tomorrow if I go to Radio Shack)
Yes they are - and you can make them any colour you want by dropping a plastic filter in front of it. Unfiltered they give off an intense light green / blue light.
nope r. p.s. don't think it would be easy to read if you did... the dots are so bright that the small amount fo black in the text would get smothered out a bit I think...
Ok then, look at it this way... £40 is only a couple of kilograms of stilton, so just give up the cheese for a week. Easy. r.
lol yuour the one who likes stilton seriously thou guys I dont have the money. Will get one when I do.
