do you all think the thermaltake cl-w0052 tide water vga cooler is a good option for vga cooling? its about $60 usd and looks to have real good performance and reviews...of course, is it worth it to spend that kinda money on that when i plan on water cooling my cpu down the road as well? i am not real sure about cost for a good water cooling kit that will hit cpu and vga (hopefully the nb and sb too). but i wanna say i could get something for around $180 usd. wait or go ahead and grab the vga cooler? or maybe a better idea for less money?
No point spending good money on average cooling like the Thermaltake unit, its allways best to get a full custom setup for both the cpu and gpu. get a nice aircooled hsf like a Zalman vf700/900 unit or a Artic silencer for your card. Good aircooling can easilly outperform average units like the thermaltake.
The Thermaltake is a cheap product. Both in build quality and design. Price wise, it's OK but if I was going to water cool... it'd be the whole PC. I had a Zalman VF900CU w/ Arctic Silver 5 with a volt modded 7900GT @ 1.4v (650/1900) and load temps never went over 60c.
seems like good advice...less than half the money for about 65-75% of the cooling...i just cant seem to find anywhere where it says specifiaclly that the coolers (700 or 900) work on the x1800 series...
They will work on the x1800 and x1900 series, they have the correct holes and i have seen people have then on such cards.
I used a Zalman VF900 on my x1800XL and now on my 512mb 7900GT. It fits. The info should be on Zalman's website.
