I've just got myself a fancy new TV that I can hook my PC up to using a VGA cable, but the one i have is far too short and although it will do I'd rather put my pc back on my desk I'm wary about just getting any old cable of ebay because I'm sure the longer the cable the crappier the quality. I'm guessing that there are better quality cables than others. Finally, I do a lot of photoshop work and I have a silly little 15 inch screen that i have all my toolbars on and yanking the cable in and out when i want to switch to tv and then back to the 15 incher will get annoying... I know there are switches out there, but all the ones i can find look a bit retro.... If there was something that did both jobs at once that would be perfect. oh, an i'm sure this is a huge long shot.. but if there is a switch thing out there that automatically knows the resolution of the screen.. that would be pretty funky Anyway, I'm just looking for some pointers really, I don't really even know what terms to search for
Are you looking for a longer DVI - VGA, or a VGA - VGA? There are any number of stores from which you can buy long cables, if you don't fancy/trust Ebay. If you can't find them being sold by the usual [PC hardware] sources (which I'd find hard to believe)... have a look on these cable specialist sites: http://www.tvcables.co.uk/ http://www.cabling4less.co.uk/ http://www.cableuniverse.co.uk/ http://www.cablecity.co.uk/ http://www.revealcable.co.uk/ http://www.homestead.co.uk/ http://www.cables2u.co.uk/ http://www.tvcables.co.uk/ As for a solution to your monitor switching malarkey... I'd say a 2-port KVM is what you need
