I am trying to find out more about the VGA standard, as in the one we use to connect monitors to graphics cards rather than the internal adapter specification. Its easy to find out about the old graphics card specification but not what goes down the wire as it were. What im after is the different voltages for the colour signals and the timings but if anyone knows a good complete reference site that would be best. Moriquendi
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/VGA_connector http://pinouts.ru/Video/VGAVesaDdc_pinout.shtml http://pinouts.ws/db15-vga-pinout.html info on colours (seems to be like this) http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Component_video
Ive already got all those but i need more detail. For example, for component video the signal voltages are different in PAL zones from NTSC zones but VGA monitors are inter-changable so which standard do they use? or is it something different again?. And how does the timing differ for different resoloutions? Moriquendi
VGA -> PC monitors NTSC -> US television PAL -> EU television VGA has absolutely nothing to do with PAL or NTSC. It's a seperate, worldwide standard, which is why VGA monitors are interchangeable.
