totaly diffrent signal types, you need an active converter. you cant just solder some pins together and get it. your best bet is to get a USB "video out" card.

ya, you need an active converter like theshadow said. VGA has about 8 active pins (im just going from memory, and am probably wrong, but give me a break) including the R,G & B signals, vert & horz sinc, and all that stuff. Composite has just one active send and a ground (hence the RCA connection). To convert, try looking around for one of those boxes that lets you "play console video games on your PC!". You might be able to backwards wire it to convert the signal for you fairly cheeply.

Must be a pretty old Lappy to not have a TV out of eather s-Video or composit anyway.
S-video can be converted to composit with an 5-10 dingy from ratshack or the like

s-video can be converted to composite with one small capacitor, and a few minutes of work (i've done it).

As for converting VGA to composite, a simple google search yields many answers :http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&lr=&q=vga+to+tv+converter&btnG=Search It looks like you should expect to spend ~40-80 dollars.

I elieve that, technically, VGA only requires 5 connections: R, G, B, h-sync, and v-sync (well, and ground). However, most modern monitors have a lot of other fancy stuff that enables the monitor to tell the PC what it is, and a good deal of stuff. However, you HAVE to have it connected.
