ive been searching ebay daily and have searched through google but i cant seem to find what im after... i did see one on ebay but couldnt buy it att the time i need a vga to s-video cable for my soon to be HTPC.. sadly the motherboard i have doesnt have a s-video port and i cant affort a new PCI graphics card with one on so does any one no where i can get on from.. the only ones i have found are big huge boxes that cost something like £30+ T.I.A
No, they have different signal timings and lines. S-video only has 2 working lines (Luminance and Chrominance) and 2 grounds. Whereas VGA has 7 (Red, Green, Blue, DDC DAT, H-Sync, V-Sync, DCC Clock) and 5 grounds. A scan converter has to consolidate and resize the image in realtime in order to output in S-video or Composite. You can either get a scan converter, or a video card with S-Video output.
ISTR seeing a circuit diagram for VGA-SCART conversion. But that was many moons ago. A quick googling reveals this link.
i thought id ask this on this thread instead of asking on a new one.. i saw this: http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=3759&item=5188577112&rd=1&ssPageName=WD2V on ebay and was thinking about getting one.. i no they are probably classed as crude devises as they dont convert the picture properly.. but anyways what im woundering is will they work on my computer..? the computer i want to use it on only has a onboard VGA port hence why i want one.. and i cant really afford a new graphics card for it and i only want to hook it up to the TV.. the only problem i see when i look at it, is that it says i need a TV out function..? all i have on it is a VGA port
Look for a trust televiewer (think thats it) and should do the job, might be a bit pricy were around the £30 mark 2 months ago on ebay
well i dont really have that sort of money to spend on it.. but also for that proce i can get a graphics card with TV out port on it... hence why i am looking at the vga to s-video adapter..
You could take a look at this site too.... http://www.tkk.fi/Misc/Electronics/circuits/vga2tv/cindex.html Looks much the same as the other link you found though....
