Taipei, Taiwan, 27 February 2008 - VIA Technologies, Inc., a leading innovator and developer of embedded silicon and platform technologies, today announced the adoption of the VIA EPIA PX10000 Pico-ITX board by DeLock, a subsidiary of the European embedded developer and distributor Tragant Handels und Beteiligungs GmbH, in its DIN-rail mounted DeLock DL-18HD industrial control PC.

Measuring a mere 118mm x 101mm x 70mm and weighing just 400 grams, the DeLock DL-18HD is based on the remarkably compact VIA Pico-ITX board, enabling it to be seamlessly integrated alongside mounted switch and control equipment in space constrained locations. A DIN rail is a standardized 35mm-wide metal rail that is often used to securely mount production equipment in industrial environments.

Thermal efficiency is crucial in such a small device, and the DeLock DL-18HD takes full advantage of the low power draw of the VIA Pico-ITX with its VIA C7 processor, requiring only a 15 watt power supply.

The DeLock DL-18HD industrial PC offers great flexibility to factory owners, spanning a wide range of functionality including computerized automation, gateway solutions (including programmable logic control processes), remote service and monitoring, facility management, supervisory control and data acquisition systems, data management and multimedia applications.

“We are delighted to announce this first industrial design win for our Pico-ITX form factor, said Daniel Wu, Vice President, VIA Embedded Platform Division, VIA Technologies, Inc. “DeLock has really made the most of the small size and low power requirements of the processor platform, and has set the standard for the system design in the industrial PC sector.”

“The tiny size of the VIA Pico-ITX board has enabled us to develop an exceptionally compact device with full PC performance, multimedia and security features,” said Detlef Kleemann, Product Manager, Tragant Handels und Beteiligungs GmbH. “Industrial PCs need to be rugged, extremely reliable and generate very little heat, especially in such compact settings, and the DeLock DL-18HD comfortably meets all those demands.”

    About the DeLock DL-18HD
The DeLock DL-18HD DIN-rail mounted industrial PC measures 118mm x 101mm x 70mm and weighs a mere 0.4 kg; an especially compact PC for a range of industrial automation and control that fits on the standard DIN rail common in European industrial environments.

    The DeLock DL-18HD is based on a VIA EPIA PX-Series Pico-ITX board (100mm x 72mm) that features a 1GHz VIA C7 processor and a VIA VX700 all-in-one chipset with integrated VIA UniChrome Pro 2 3D/2D graphics.

With four USB 2.0 ports, a 10/100 Mbps Ethernet port, 3 audio sockets (Line-In, Line-Out and Mic) and a PS2 keyboard interface the DL-18HD has all the interfaces expected in a full x86 PC. Storage options range from 80GB to 300GB S-ATA. Further connectivity options include a Class 10 integrated GSM Quad Band Modem with GPRS and UMTS options available later in the year.

Software availability is abundant with all x86 based Windows and Linux operating systems supported.
