I don't think an 18-hour wait is worthy of a bump. I know it's frustrating but there we go.

What's the original resolution of the laptop? What drivers are you running? Have you tried a reinstall of the drivers/a different version? Does the DVI port give a higher resolution on a normal monitor? Have you tried reinstalling the video codecs?

Hello there, this question seems to be like made for me (HP tech support reporting in). Problem is in the ATI drivers, I'm sorry but there is no fix for you here, you could try Omega drivers to get fix on the resolution (to get native to HDTV resolution). But basicly you have to use some other resolution to your HDTV (aspect ratio 16:10) try to get it close as possible to the native resolution. One other thing DVI -> HDMI cable doesn't work properly, it just sucks to be totally honest. You should change that to DVI -> VGA (if your TV has a VGA port) to get better picture and maybe more resolution options.

Reason why you don't get a video picture to TV is that you have to set it up as a primary monitor, not as secondary, to get a picture out from video to the TV. I hope I could help to your problem, at least somewhat. I'm not sure about the overspanning in ATI drivers, but in my NVIDIA I got perfect resolution by using DVI -> VGA cable, setting up the TV as a primary and units own monitor secondary monitor in dual view mode, set up the resolution to 1920x1080 (yeah I have 42" full HD) to primary and 1280x1024 to secondary monitor and everything works like a charm.

it is listed as primary, sometimes it works sometimes it doesnt, and your right it does suck. I could have dropped another hundred and gotten a DVI in on the TV but didnt have the money. Oh well thanks a lot.
